WILSONART LAMINATE’S NEW MISSION DESIGN CAPTURES THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF THE ANCIENT SOUTHWEST

07/19/2005

-- New MissionSeries Resonates With the Mystical Power of the Past --

TEMPLE, Texas, July 19, 2005 – At home in any part of the country, Wilsonart® Laminate’s new Mission Series glows with a warmth found only in nature.   Inspired by the rough surfaces and dimensional irregularity of the hand-hewn cliff dwellings of America’s ancient Pueblo community, Wilsonart has created a collection of casually artistic laminates in a small-scale design.

With the appearance of sandstone and adobe that has been prepared by artisans, Mission emphasizes the natural, with only a delicate touch by man’s hand.  This deft combination of organic with the man-made results in an abstract visual ensemble that is magical in its architectural feel and welcoming warmth.

Six wondrous, earthy tones capture the light, wind and stark contrasts that are prevalent in the Southwest:

  • Mission Smoke – The dark warmth of a charcoal fire glowing in the haze of taupey smoke under the night sky.
  • Mission Sage – A deep, earthy green flecked with glints of gold like those found in wheat, herbs and desert sand.
  • Mission Adobe – Sun-dried sienna spiced with brown, bringing to mind vegetables gathered for the winter.
  • Mission Stucco – A warm and light-toned composition of white, sage and taupe.
  • Mission Sand – Softly lit under a setting sun, a gentle combination of taupes and golds.
  • Mission Shadow – A strong and sophisticated neutral blending juniper, grey and brown.

Wilsonart International, based in TempleTexas, is a leading manufacturer of decorative surfacing products, including Wilsonart® Laminate.  The company’s laminate was a nominee in the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum’s National Design Awards.
