Every sheet of Chemsurf®  comes with a protective film on the decorative surface. It should be handled carefully because this face has a thick layer of resin, which can crack if the laminate is flexed away from the face.

Not necessarily. The back of a Chemsurf® sheet is just like any other laminate. 

Chemsurf® (Product Type 390) may be successfully formed with conventional postforming machinery. It can be bent to 9/16" on an outside radius at an optimum forming temperature of 275°F (135°C) and the inside can be bent to 3/16" radius.

Chemsurf® is recommended as interior surfacing material only. Prolonged exposure to outside weather conditions could result in some discoloration.

Yes, Chemsurf® meets ASTM-G22 requirements for bacterial resistance and bacterial susceptibility.

Because the face of Chemsurf® Laminate has a special resin formulation different than standard laminate with melamine resin, it may be somewhat more susceptible to color change or deformation from high temperature. Wilsonart recommends that Chemsurf Laminate not be subjected to extremes in humidity, or to temperatures of over 275°F (135°C) for sustained periods of time, or to intense, continuous, direct sunlight.

Yes. It is particularly good because it resists the attack of silver nitrate, which stains ordinary laminate black.

Chemsurf® can be damaged by high concentrations of sulfuric and nitric acids when exposed for long periods of time. There may be other chemicals that Chemsurf does not resist. If a customer has a chemical that doesn't show up on our list of over 100 common reagents, call our Technical Services Department (800-433-3222) to find out whether the laminate will withstand it or not. In most cases, Chemsurf will be able to resist the substance in question.

There is an upcharge for Chemsurf® due to special resin formulations and manufacturing techniques used to create the chemical-resistant surface.

Factory orders typically require two weeks' lead time.

Chemsurf® is used in intermediate laboratory applications where resistance to aggressive chemicals is required, such as serology or urology labs, college labs, hospitality bathroom applications, dental offices, and beauty salons. Chemsurf is designed to fill specific needs.

Forming Type 390 offers optimum chemical and wear resistance; it is intended for horizontal, vertical, and postforming surfaces as well as for applications including those where it is necessary or desirable to roll the laminate on a simple radius over the edge of a substrate. This eliminates seams, which are otherwise vulnerable to chemical attack.

Compact Laminate sheets are not specifically covered by industry-wide standards, except for Wilsonart® Impact-Resistant Laminate (Type 117). This product, designated by ISO4586 as HSH, conforms to the relevant standards for thickness, performance properties, and appearance. Wilsonart maintains internal standards that require all Wilsonart® Compact Laminate to conform to the standards described for Type HSH.

Compact Laminate is available in #60 Matte finish in all product types. #95 Chemsurf® Chemical-Resistant finish is available for most Product Types. Wilsonart also offers LAB Grade Compact, #96 finish in limited designs.
