Dreaming of luxury living?
This is the Bluewater Health Foundation’s Dream Home, located in Sarnia, Ontario. This magnificent home is nestled near Lake Huron, offering the feel of a beachside cabin — and the look of a modern estate. It also features premium Wilsonart® Quartz to deliver a luxury vision inspired by recent trends.
In 2023, this home was the grand prize for a high-stakes raffle from the Bluewater Health Foundation. The Foundation oversees the annual Dream Home raffle and raises money for Bluewater Health, a prominent healthcare system in Ontario.
The home was designed by Ontario’s Soulside Living + Design. We spoke with the design team to learn more about their vision for the home.
“This home was an opportunity to share with our community how to push the boundaries of design. We started by incorporating rich darker tones inspired by nature that might feel slightly unexpected from the normal lakeside home color palette,”
said one spokesperson.
Those rich dark tones are immediately apparent on the exterior of the home. The black stone facade is paired with classic woodgrain panels, presenting a contrast between contemporary allure and welcoming warmth.
This design philosophy extends to nearly every room in the home. The open-concept kitchen is a space that invites morning conversations, evening entertaining, and everything in between.
A SOULSIDE LIVING + DESIGN TEAM MEMBER SAID,
“In the early planning stages, we came across an image of a dark kitchen and felt instantly connected. Ultimately, our vision for the kitchen inspired the rest of the home, color selections, and overall vibe.”
Wilsonart® Quartz takes this kitchen to the next level. Enchanted Rock, a design inspired by dark natural stone, can be found on the large island area, backsplash, and auxiliary countertops. These countertops were fabricated with a mitered edge to create visual continuity and elegance throughout the slabs.
Quartz surfaces are truly the foundation of the space, showcasing a warm charcoal base with dynamic white veining. Using Enchanted Rock also follows the recent Dark & Moody Luxe trend by balancing dramatic color contrast with a deep sense of luxury.
“We think Enchanted Rock was made for this kitchen. It works perfectly with the cabinetry and provides a warm neutral surface to tie all of the natural elements together.”
Kitchen storage spaces came to life with “Fatigue Green” from Benjamin Moore, a deep-green paint that draws the eye to paneled cabinets and coordinates with the Wilsonart® Quartz countertops. This tone feels naturally inspired, evoking images of a mossy forest at dusk.

“This was our first time working with Wilsonart® Quartz. We were very impressed with the quality and the installation process. It’s functional, durable, and beautiful. It was easy to work with and flexible, allowing us to install designs in many different ways.”
The flexibility of Wilsonart® Quartz made it the top choice for other countertops in the home. Enchanted Rock appears alongside more Fatigue Green cabinets in the laundry room and frames the utility sink.
The basement is ready for endless entertainment. Imagine playing a fun game of ping pong, hosting a movie night, or treating guests to a cocktail — all from the comfort of your home. Next to the stunning theater space is a bar area that features another Enchanted Rock countertop and backsplash. Notice how the bright veining in the slab is mimicked by lighting strips on the nearby ceiling and wall.
Wilsonart® Quartz is engineered to perform in any environment. That’s why the design team chose Quartz to complete two bathrooms in the home. After exploring the diverse catalog of designs, Trail Ridge was selected to create the primary ensuite vanity and backsplash. This Quartz countertop is inspired by slate rock to feel organic, rugged, and industrial.
In the basement bathroom, Vicentia offers a classic white design inspired by bright quartzite stone and sandy beaches. The vanity is paired with rustic woodgrain cabinets and bold, black hardware.
