Just outside of Dallas, Texas, you will find the Wylie home, a place that stands out from the moment you walk in.
The Wylies are home design enthusiasts who appreciate the endless design and performance possibilities of engineered surfaces. After discovering that Wilsonart® Engineered Surfaces has a solution for every taste, space, budget, and performance need, they made the decision to use Wilsonart throughout their stunning remodel. Wilsonart was the answer for achieving their eclectic taste and functionality requirements like simple maintenance — especially in a home that is often full of family.
And what was their vision for the home?
A modern masterpiece, delivered by
Dallas-based Make Ready Renovations with high-performance surfaces like Wilsonart® HPL and Wilsonart® Solid Surface.
Make Ready Renovations is where you will find CEO Clay Garretson and Chief Creative Officer Wiley Gilliam.
Garretson and Gilliam are a big part of this story. Gilliam was in charge of designing the “modern masterpiece,” completely transforming the home into a new space that captures the unique style of the homeowners.
But Make Ready Renovations was not familiar with Wilsonart® HPL or Wilsonart® Solid Surface for a home project. Working with engineered surfaces in a residential environment was a new opportunity for their team.

“We have used Wilsonart surfaces for commercial projects, but never for a home on this scale. We really didn’t know how the project was going to turn out with Wilsonart® HPL and Solid Surface. There were so many unknowns for us in the beginning.”

Let’s start in the kitchen, the heart of this home.
Here, you will find a large Wilsonart® Solid Surface island, providing plenty of space for entertaining or food preparation. The neutral Morning Ice design makes a statement in the space and offers a seamless look that can be easily repaired by buffing out scratches or scuffs. Morning Ice embraces the Crafted Calm trend with an inviting, cozy appearance, and is beautifully complemented by durable Wilsonart® HPL cabinets below.
These cabinets feature Salentina Nero, a concrete-inspired design that blends popular charcoal tones with accents of silver.

“I wasn’t sure about using laminate in a kitchen before this project. Now, I think it’s an obvious choice for the space. The quality is incredible. And once I could actually feel the surface, I was sold.”
Wilsonart® HPL makes more than one appearance in the kitchen. The cabinets and closed storage were built with Raleigh Walnut from Wilsonart Woodgrains™. This raw Walnut style features warm undertones and a close grain pattern that makes a classic design statement on floor-to-ceiling cabinetry.
Plus, Wilsonart Woodgrains™ outperform traditional wood veneer while showcasing the look and feel of real wood. Designs like Raleigh Walnut are more sustainable than wood veneer and benefit the ecosystem by using an average of 23% post-consumer recycled content in every panel.
The tactile experience was a major realization for the Make Ready team.

Notice the Solid Surface table top in the breakfast nook. Or the Raleigh Walnut cabinets in the living room. Functional design and personalized styling didn’t stop in the kitchen. Next, let’s explore the bathrooms.
The primary bathroom is a showstopper. The crisp white Arctic Dune vanity top from Wilsonart® Solid Surface is paired with head-turning baby blue cabinets from Wilsonart® HPL.

You might be noticing a theme. The homeowners wanted clean, modern designs from Wilsonart® Solid Surface for countertops, shower surrounds, and vanity tops. All of these surfaces were fabricated and installed by Adam Danker of Classic Countertops. Working with Solid Surface means using the most flexible surfacing material on the market. This offered clear benefits for Danker and the team at Make Ready Renovations.

“I would highly recommend it. In addition to the solid-color designs and matte finishes, Wilsonart® Solid Surface is really easy to work with. It’s easy to install and keeps the project moving. It can also be repaired down the line.”
Using Wilsonart® Solid Surface as a shower surround is more than a design choice. Solid Surface doesn’t require grout and performs in wet environments with non-porous, waterproof engineering that eliminates the growth of mold and mildew.
In other words, Wilsonart® Solid Surface gives the home a high-performance foundation — a blank canvas for colorful creations from Wilsonart® HPL.
And the Wylies didn’t stop at baby blue cabinets. You will also find purple cabinets in another bathroom! This custom-color design from Wilsonart® HPL adds color to a space that features Arctic Dune Wilsonart® Solid Surface for the vanity and shower walls. The concrete look of Salentina Nero can also be found in a bathroom to complete a contemporary look.
